The Alpine Wall was the Italian counterpart to the French Alpine Line, the Austrian and Czechoslovakian defensive positions in the Alps. The Italian name for this defensive line high in the mountains was “Vallo Alpino” and was defended by the Alpini. They were specialised Italian mountain troops who were known for their black raven feather on their hat, also known as The Black Feathers.
