Alfred Jodl was a German military officer who served as Chief of the Operations Staff of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW) during World War II. He was responsible for planning and executing strategic military operations under Adolf Hitler’s command. Jodl signed the unconditional surrender of German forces on May 7, 1945, in Reims, France. After the war, he was tried at the Nuremberg Trials for war crimes and crimes against humanity. He was found guilty, sentenced to death, and executed by hanging on October 16, 1946. His role was administrative and operational.
