The SU-100 tank destroyer at Musée des Blindés in Saumur, France, is a preserved example of the Soviet World War Two self-propelled gun. Introduced in 1944, the SU-100 was based on the T-34-85 chassis and armed with a powerful 100mm D-10S gun, capable of penetrating heavy German tanks like the Panther and Tiger II. It had strong frontal armor and was highly effective in both offensive and defensive roles. The SU-100 remained in service long after the war and influenced post-war Soviet tank destroyer designs. The Saumur museum’s SU-100 is part of its extensive collection of historic armored vehicles.
