Around the Marine Peilstand und Messtellung MP 3, Naval observation tower MP 3 lies Stützpunkt Butts on the Channel Island Jersey – United Kingdom. Two towers were needed to determine range, speed and give a fire solution to the coastal batteries and direct their gun fire towards the designated target. Stützpunkt Butts had two FL 242 Flak positions with 2 cm Oerlikon guns and an emplacement for a Freya radar, next to the Freya radar on the MP 3 observation tower. This Freya land-based Seetakt radar position was named Fu.M.O West, Funkmess Ortung or Radio-direction finder. The second observation post wasn’t a tower but a fortified lookout post, these posts were designated with a “M” and a number. In Stützpunkt Butts the observation bunker was designated M2.
