This oldest surviving Sherman tank was named after Michael Dewar who went to America during “The Tank Project”. The British needed more armor during the war and asked America for help. This Sherman was the first to arrive in England in 1942. The M4A1 has a cast hull instead of welded, this version has two hull machine guns. These two machine guns are only placed in early Sherman M4A1 Medium Tanks used by the British.
Tank Michael belongs to the collection of the Tank Museum in Bovington, England 2017.
