On the south side of the bridge over the Oddesund strait a Luftwaffe section took care of aerial defense just like the northern section did. Three Luftwaffe L409A bunkers with a light, 20 mm gun were built. More defensive positions covered the road with machine guns and anti-tank guns. This defensive position was named Stützpunkt Oddesund Süd for it was positioned at the south side of the bridge.
On this south side used to be three Flak bunkers of the L409A type with 20 mm flak guns and a bunker for a 60 cm searchlight. Unfortunately a few bunkers on the southside were demolished in 1978/1979 leaving only one of the three flak bunkers for us to see today.
Visit
Most of the bunkers are on no man’s land and are filled with water. A parking lot is nearby. On the north side of the bridge you find more bunkers. These are open for the public and information panels are placed in or on the bunkers and in a visitors tower. This is named Stützpunkt Oddesund North. Both strongpoints, Stützpunkt Oddesund North and Stützpunkt Oddesund South are part of Stützpunktgruppe Oddesund.
