FCM 36 – French Light Tank

The Char Léger Modèle 1936 FCM was a French light tank developed by FCM (Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée) in the late 1930s. FCM originally was a French ship builder company. Designed as a heavily armored alternative to other French light tanks, it featured thicker armor and a 37mm gun, offering better protection and firepower than the Renault R35. However, due to its high production cost and weight, only a small number were built before France’s defeat in 1940. The tank saw limited service during World War Two, with some captured and used by German forces.

The tank in these photo’s is on display at the Musée des Blindes in Saumur, France.
